Just returned from a very enjoyable hour and a half on the
Shirley wood 9 holer. As a beginner I found it quite forgiving
to wayward drives etc as most of the adjourning fairways are
defined with grass banking etc instead of the usual trees
and rough. It is probably a little tame for the experienced
player but for a novice such as myself I will be making many
return visits to try and improve my skill level as some of
the fairway lengths and widths make you think about club selection
a lot more than on a longer course. All in all a very enjoyable
New Year's Eve morning and all for the bargain price of only
£6.
