Q&A'S
The
Iron
As
the name suggests, Irons were originally made using iron, however,
they are now usually made from steel. These clubs are used for accuracy
and are generally smaller than woods.
The
Wood
Again,
these were historically made from wood. These clubs are used for
long distance, rather than accuracy and are generally bigger than
irons.
Club
Numbers
Every
club has a number which represents the "loft" of the club.
The lower the number, the lower the loft and the longer the club
(ie. a "1" wood has a loft of between 8 and 12 degrees).
The lower the loft is the longer the distance will be, but the accuracy
will be less.
A
Set of Clubs
The
number of clubs in a set is restricted to no more than 14 clubs,
which clubs these are depends on your preferences. Most sets would,
however, include the following:
- A
Putter
-
Woods - 1, 3 and 5
-
Irons - 3,, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, PW
