European Tour Q-School 2010 heads to Wychwood Park
February 16, 2010

De Vere Wychwood Park will host a number of new high profile events to its championship portfolio for the 2010 season.

The PGA EuroPro Tour has played the Cheshire resort for the last two years and will return to Wychwood Park in 2010, proof that the course at over 7000 yards provides a thorough test of every aspect of the game, and more top class amateur and professional events will visit in the coming months. The UK Final of the prestigious International Pairs series will be staged on 26-27 September, shortly after some of Europe’s finest professionals compete in the first stage of European Tour Qualifying School, also scheduled for September at Wychwood Park.

The addition of the Q-School to the championship rota at Wychwood Park is a significant boost for a course which opened less than ten years ago,n joining the elite group of courses that meet the high standards set by the European Tour. The opening stage of Q-School is the first step towards a career on Europe’s highest tier of professional golf, and has seen players of the calibre of Padraig Harrington, Ian Poulter, Miguel Angel Jiminez and Ross Fisher, all of whom came through the Qualifying School on their way towards European Tour and major championship victories.

Daniel Hodson, Director of Golf & Leisure, De Vere Group, commented, “We are delighted with the progress that has been made at Wychwood Park since opening in 2002, and it is testament to the excellent design and course conditioning coupled with the hard work of all the staff at the resort that it has attracted such high profile tournaments. The addition of the European Tour Qualifying School to the Championship rota is recognition not only of the golf course but to the great off-course facilities at the resort too. All of these events will continue to raise the profile of the course as an enjoyable and challenging experience, and we look forward to bringing more great golf tournaments to Wychwood Park in the future.”

Wychwood Park is also home to a modern 4-star hotel, located close to Manchester and within easy reach of the M6. Boasting modern meeting rooms with internet access and plasma and audio-visual equipment, as well as 108-bedrooms and a number of dining options, Wychwood Park is the perfect venue for golf, business and leisure.
