Druh Belts' snakeskins claim desert victory with Karlsson
February 8, 2010

Druh Belts & Buckles are celebrating following the superb three-stroke victory by Druh ambassador Robert Karlsson at the European Tour’s Qatar Masters.

Karlsson, who endorses Druh as the ‘Choice of Champions’, was the first Swede to top the European Tour Order of Merit in 2008, but a career-threatening eye injury kept him off the fairways for much of the 2009 season, with his Qatar win signifying a remarkable comeback.

"The focus this year was to come back and start to put together good rounds and a then a string of good rounds and then you never know what's going to happen," commented 40-year-old Karlsson, after securing his 10th career title and moving back into the world’s top 20.

Known for his quirky, yet stylish golf attire, Karlsson has been sporting Druh belts on the European Tour for almost a year now and acts as an official ambassador for the distinctive range of stylish belts and buckles.

Druh Belts & Buckles offer the style-conscious golfer a selection of handmade leather and snakeskin belts in classic and chic casual styles and have quickly become one of the touring professionals’ style secrets, with six Major winners, two current Ryder Cup players, 60 European Tour players and over 50 Asian Tour players all proudly wearing Druh Belts & Buckles.

Paul McGinley, three-time Ryder Cup winner, multiple champion on the European Tour and captain of the winning Great Britain and Ireland team for the 2009 Vivendi Trophy, is also Druh Belts & Buckles ambassador.

Englishman Ross McGowan also favours Druh Belts and was wearing one from his collection when he claimed his first ever European Tour title, the Madrid Masters, last October at the Centro Nacional de Golf in the Spanish capital.

Karlsson’s victory coincided with a hugely successful outing for Druh at January's PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, where the company secured a number of distributors for the product around the world.

Inspired by company founder and professional golfer Simon Hurd (Druh is 'Hurd' spelt backwards), the Druh leather belt range is handmade in ten water snakeskins, ranging from turquoise to pink and 15 leathers in different embossed styles, from crocodile to ostrich effect. Druh’s interchangeable buckles in brushed nickel, polished silver or gold mean their belts can be customised to look smart on or off the course.

Druh Belts retail at US$200 for snakeskin and $100 for leather, and the company guarantees that the snakes used in production are not protected species. They are distributed in the UK via The Golf Business.
