Fred Couples claims fourth 2010 title in ECCO
October 26, 2010

Fred Couples, an ECCO staff player, has won the Administaff Small Business Classic - his fourth Champions Tour title of 2010 - at The Woodlands (Texas) Country Club.

Couples, who wears a variety of ECCO golf shoes, closed with a 63 to finish the week on 17-under 199, seven strokes clear of his nearest challenger. By capturing his fourth title of the season, Couples solidified his second place position on both the money and Charles Schwab Cup Points lists on the Champions Tour.

ECCO staff player Fred Couples"I don't know if I putted like that on the PGA Tour, ever," Couples said. “That was something. I hit the ball well, made a lot of putts and it all added up to a 63.”

The 50-year-old Champions Tour rookie started the final round in third place and was two strokes behind the leader after 10 holes on Sunday. He then recorded an eagle and five birdies to play the last eight holes in seven under and secure the win going away.

“Fred needed only 24 putts during the last round, and any time he’s rolling the ball like that it’s going to take a remarkable effort to beat him,” says Jesper Thuen, Sponsor and Event Manager, ECCO Golf. “He started out the year in tremendous form and is really well positioned going into the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.”

ECCO golf shoes are also worn in competition by scores of international Tour stars, including Thomas Bjorn, Aaron Baddeley, Stuart Appleby, Bradley Dredge, Jennifer Johnson, Iben Tinning, Linda Wessberg and many others.
