Cool Mahan clinches hot Phoenix victory in Under Armour Under Armour athlete Hunter Mahan won the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona with a dramatic late charge up the leaderboard on Sunday night. The 27-year-old made an eagle and two birdies in the closing six holes to come from four shots behind, shooting a second consecutive bogey-free 65 in the final round to beat his former Oklahoma State college compatriot Ricky Fowler by one shot. Mahan’s finishing total of 16-under-par 268 was enough to seal the victory and pick up a pay cheque for $1.08 million. It was Mahan’s first victory in two years and catapulted him into 7th position on the PGA Tour’s Championship rankings.
"It's just finding a way to win. I just haven't been able to do it," said Mahan. "So obviously it feels great to get the year off to a strong start with a win in my fifth tournament. It gives me a lot of confidence in myself that I'm doing the right things in my game, and it feels great, it really does." “There’s no doubt my Under Armour clothing gave me the winning edge,” said Mahan. “It is not only incredibly comfortable to wear, allowing me to swing freely, but kept me cool under pressure, which meant I could focus on playing my best and winning.” Mahan’s victory now puts him firmly inside the Ryder Cup points table in fifth position, moved him into sixth position in the FedEx Cup and gave him a boost in the World Golf Rankings chart up to 33rd. Under Armour caters to the golfer’s every need with its three signature product lines, HeatGear, ColdGear and AllSeasonGear, which offer the best in performance golf wear for male, female, and junior athletes around the globe.
