Dustin Johnson claims 39th TaylorMade driver victory of 2011
August 29, 2011

Dustin Johnson won the 2011 BarclaysWith hurricane Irene bearing down on the Northeast U.S., TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff professional Dustin Johnson achieved his second-career FedExCup Play-offs victory at The Barclay’s on Saturday, charging home with a brilliant final-round 65 to win by two shots.

Johnson, playing the R11 driver and wearing new TOUR360 ATV footwear from adidas Golf, was well-equipped to battle the field, and the soggy conditions at Plainfield Country Club. Weather forecasts calling for hurricane conditions shortened The Barclay’s to 54 holes, but take little meaning away from Johnson’s monumental victory, his fifth career PGA Tour win and first in 2011.

With the win, Johnson moves to No. 4 in Official World Golf Rankings and heads to TPC Boston for the Deustche Bank Championship as the leader in the FedExCup points race. TaylorMade drivers have now been used in 39 victories worldwide this year; more than any other brand.

Earlier this week, Johnson helped TaylorMade Golf, FedEx and the PGA Tour celebrate the delivery of the company’s millionth white metalwood. Disguised as a FedEx driver, Johnson ambushed an unsuspecting consumer in Clifton, New Jersey, with the special delivery containing a gold-plated R11 driver (watch the video below).
