Haas marches off with $10m FedEx bonus in FootJoy
September 27, 2011

FootJoyFootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, was once again at the forefront of proceedings at the season ending TOUR Championship, as Bill Haas overcame fellow FJ brand ambassador Hunter Mahan in a thrilling three-hole playoff to land both the TOUR Championship and the FedEx Cup’s $10m bonus at East Lake on Sunday.

With both players relying on the all-round excellence of FJ ICON golf shoes, galleries were treated to a nail-biting finale that also saw Haas pull-off the shot of the year on the second play-off hole. Seemingly down-and-out after hitting his approach shot into the water, the 29 year-old son of Champions Tour star Jay Haas remained completely calm under the utmost of pressure to miraculously splash out to within 3-feet and save his par. This promptly set up a par at the next hole, which was good enough to claim a total prize of $11.4million.

The momentous Sunday afternoon saw FootJoy ambassadors claim the top 3 positions in the final FedEx Cup standings, with Haas narrowly pipping Webb Simpson and Luke Donald to the jackpot prize. The victory vaults Haas up to 20th place in the Official World Golf Rankings and puts him in with a fantastic chance of claiming the one remaining captain’s pick for the United States Presidents Cup Team. Runner-up Mahan jumps five places to 18th in the World.

FootJoy’s dominance at The TOUR Championship capped off a historic week for the iconic brand as FJ ambassador, Kenneth Ferrie marked a dramatic return to form, capturing the Austrian GolfOpen in yet another play-off. Trusting the superior performance of the FJ ICON golf shoes and extreme comfort of the FJ StaSof glove, the 32 year-old from Newcastle held his nerve following a stunning final round 67 to end a six year wait for his third European Tour title. Marking the 19th footwear victory of the 2011 European Tour season for the legendary brand, the tournament also saw an impressive 55.9% of the field follow in the footsteps of Ferrie by putting their faith in the all-round performance of FootJoy golf shoes.

Whether it is the all-round excellence of the FJ ICON™, the reliability and consistent performance of the DryJoys Tour™, or the comfort of the FJ Sport, FootJoy remains the overwhelming favourite for golfers of all abilities around the world.
