Webb Simpson plays Titleist to victory at Deutsche Bank
September 6, 2011

TitleistWebb Simpson trusts a host of Titleist equipment to secure his second PGA Tour victory in an all-Titleist ProV1x play-off and move to the top of the FedEx Cup standings

When the winner of the Deutsche Bank Championship was still to be decided in a play-off, the winning ball was already confirmed as both players trusted the feel and precision of the #1 Ball in Golf to tie at the top of the leaderboard. Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson and Pro V1x loyalist Chez Reavie both fired four consecutive rounds in the 60’s, tying on 15-under par, two ahead of the field. Simpson recorded his third consecutive birdie at the second play-off hole, claiming his second career PGA Tour victory, and with it moving to the top of the FedEx Cup standings with just two events remaining.

Simpson trusted a host of Titleist equipment in claiming victory, including 909D3 driver, 910F fairway metals, 910H hybrid, 680 irons and Vokey Design sand and lob wedges. The victory marks the second time in three weeks that Simpson has topped the PGA Tour leaderboard, and continues his superb form in 2011. Having played in 22 events this season, Simpson has posted 17 top-25 finishes, nine top-10’s and two victories, which combine to secure his position at the summit of the FedEx Cup standings. Beating a quality field in Massachusetts, Simpson was joined towards the top of the leaderboard by fellow Pro V1x loyalist Luke Donald, who finished tied-3rd and continues his reign at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings.

As well as vaulting Simpson to the top of the FedEx Cup standings, a further victory for a Titleist Brand Ambassador on the PGA Tour also increases Titleist’s win count across every major product category, including: golf balls (26), drivers (15), irons (15) and wedges (19), and Titleist putters have also been used by more winners than any other brand, with sixteen 2011 PGA Tour wins. Titleist was also the overwhelming golf ball of choice at The Deutsche Bank Championship with 62 players, nearly five times the nearest competitor with 13. The playability and control of Titleist clubs also saw the brand top the counts for iron sets, including 16 sets of the new 712 irons, and Titleist also topped the counts for sand, lob and approach wedges and putters respectively.

Elsewhere, Rory Hie (Pro V1x) claimed his sixth professional victory at the Tangshan China PGA Tour event, firing a final round 7-under par to top an all-Titleist Pro V1x 1-2. Titleist was the overwhelming choice of the top finishers in China, with 9 of the top 10 finishers relying on the legendary Pro V1 franchise for their success. This victory, coupled with another victory on the PGA Tour for a Full-Line Titleist player take Titleist’s 2011 worldwide win count to 113, compared to 19 for the nearest competitor.

A second PGA tour victory in three weeks for Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson, increasing Titleist’s victory count across a number of major product categories, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
