Bubba blasts to victory with Titleist
January 31, 2011

TitleistTitleist golf ball loyalist Bubba Watson added his name to the list of players who have topped a leaderboard with the new models of the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball franchise, as he claimed the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour. With a birdie at the 72nd hole of the Torrey Pines South Course, Watson posted a 16-under par total of 272 to claim a one shot victory and his second career PGA Tour title. In just the third week that Watson has teed up the new model of Pro V1x in competition, he fired six birdies in his final round en route to posting a 5-under 67, adding his name to the ever growing list of victorious Titleist golf ball loyalists around the world in 2011.

Watson’s victory comes days after the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x models were launched at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, prior to being shipped around the world at the beginning of February. Having first been seeded on Tour in October, Watson’s win boosts the global victories for the new model of Pro V1 and Pro V1x to seven across six professional tours, as he joins Titleist golf ball loyalists around the world in topping a leaderboard with the 2011 model. As well as being the choice of the champion in California, Titleist was also the choice of the top finishers at Torrey Pines, with seven of the twelve players tying for the top-10 places putting their trust in the #1 ball in golf. Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice with 102 players, more than six times the nearest competitor with 15, and the playability and control of Titleist equipment was further endorsed by Titleist topping the counts for irons, sand, lob and approach wedges, and putters respectively.

Elsewhere, on the South African Tour, Titleist golf ball loyalist Theunis Spangenberg closed with a final round 2-under par 70 to claim his maiden Sunshine Tour victory at the Africom Zimbabwe Open. Trusting the feel and control of the Pro V1x, Spangenberg posted a 15-under par total to claim victory by two shots.

A second PGA Tour career victory for Titleist golf ball loyalist Bubba Watson, the latest in a string of victories across the major worldwide professional tours for the new Pro V1x model, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
