Cabrera-Bello claims first Euro win for FJ Performance Apparel
February 13, 2012

FootJoy has continued its remarkable 100% winning streak on the European Tour in 2012, as The Dubai Desert Classic title was clinched by FootJoy brand ambassador Rafael Cabrera-Bello, sporting the brand new 2012 FJ Performance Apparel Collection.

The 27 year old fired a bogey-free 68 to seal a one-shot victory over fellow FootJoy player and Lee Westwood, to secure the second European Tour title of his career. Cabrera-Bello and Westwood led home a group of five out of the top eight players wearing FootJoy shoes and gloves at The Emirates Golf Club.

Cabrera-Bello’s superb performance was the first win on the European Tour for the FJ Performance Apparel Collection. The young Spaniard also wore the FJ ICON, FootJoy’s flagship shoe, and the FJ RainGrip Glove, which performs particularly well in the hot and humid conditions that were experienced in Dubai.

The high quality leaderboard featured a host of FootJoy players including Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy, George Coetzee and Marcel Siem, as 57% of the field wore FootJoy shoes, compared to just 17% for the nearest competitor.

“We are delighted for Rafa, recording his second European Tour victory; it was even more pleasing that he did so wearing the brand new FJ Performance Apparel Collection. The new collection is due to hit the shelves very soon in the UK and Ireland and it is great to have a high profile winner performing so well and showcasing the range in such a prestigious event” commented Russell Lawes, European Marketing Manager, FootJoy.

The new FJ Performance Apparel Collection features an array of essential garments that can be worn both on and off-course. The range is spearheaded by four stylish, modern colour combinations entitled Cape Collection (Navy/Ocean/Yellow/White), Savannah Collection (Black/Red/White), Valley Collection (Purple/Charcoal/Grey/White) and Shore Collection (Navy/Coral/Khaki/White). These modern colour palettes complement the garment designs and allow golfers to coordinate their outfits with ease throughout the range. The addition of an Athletic fit option within the collection ensures that those seeking a more tailored look are spoilt for choice. The design focus however remains on one sport – golf, which is FootJoy’s sole passion.
