Stricker steps up with second FootJoy win of season opening week
January 11, 2012

FootJoy Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker called on all his experience to claim the PGA Tour season opener at The Plantation Course, Kapalua Hawaii, hot on the heels of fellow FootJoy loyalist Louis Oosthuizen's win at the European Tour's opener.

A field packed with big names at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions saw seasoned veteran Stricker card a final round 4-under 69 to move to 23-under par for a three-stroke victory over his nearest competitor.

Building on a scintillating 10-under par 63 in Saturday’s second round, the 44 year-old Wisconsin native wore the ultra-stable FJ DryJoys Tour shoe and the FJ PureTouch Glove to victory, the 12th of his illustrious career, moving him up the Official World Golf Ranking to No. 5, and the leading American.

The two-time Ryder Cup star was also kitted-out head to toe in FootJoy’s all-new 2012 FJ Performance Apparel Collection that is set to go on sale in stores around the UK at the beginning of March. This superb all-encompassing clothing collection features technical fabrics, golf-conscious construction and fashionable styles across an array of contemporary colour stories.

“We are thrilled for Steve after pulling through for a superb victory over a high-class field of proven winners at The Hyundai Tournament of Champions. With the impending launch of our new Footwear, Glove and Performance Apparel Collections, it was great to see our long term Brand Ambassador leading the way in the new Apparel on the world’s biggest stage” commented Russell Lawes, European Marketing Manager, FootJoy.
