'Gonzo' does an Italian job for Cleveland Srixon
September 17, 2012

Cleveland Golf and Srixon have claimed another win on the European Tour this weekend as Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño won the BMW Italian Open by two shots from South Africa’s Garth Mulroy. 'Gonzo' fired a final seven-under-par round at the Royal Park I Roveri Golf Club in Turin, Italy, to claim his first victory of 2012 and sixth on the European Tour.

Gonzalo carries a full set of Cleveland Golf and Srixon products in his Cleveland CG Tour bag, including Cleveland 588 Forged wedges (52° and 58° loft) and the Srixon Z-STAR XV golf ball.

The 588 Forged wedge is the finest wedge Cleveland has ever produced. Modeled on the classic 588 – Cleveland Golf’s best-selling wedge of all time – the new 588 has the same popular, tour-proven shape but has been given a modern twist with a series of technological breakthroughs. It is precision forged from soft 1025 carbon steel for a superb soft, solid feel and has a laser milled face and Tour Zip Grooves for the ultimate spin control and response.

Srixon’s first ever 4-piece golf ball, the Z-STAR XV, boasts a large Dual-Core that creates maximum distance and spin control on long shots. The thin proprietary urethane cover delivers superb feel on all shots with consistent spin control on approach shots and around the green whilst the duel Energetic Gradient Growth core provides superb distance and a high golf ball flight whilst maintaining low spin to optimise driver performance. The Z-STAR XV is also available in Tour Yellow for increased visual performance.

After the victory, Fernandez-Castaño said: “It felt like match play out there and I’m delighted to have come out on top. It feels very special to win again. I knew it would have to be a low round to win today and so it proved. The putts were going in today.”
