It's a Rock and roll winning week for Titleist in Abu Dhabi
January 30, 2012

TitleistRobert Rock kept his cool in the desert hear to claim his second career European Tour title at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. Playing the Pro V1x, Rock fired a final round 2-under par 70 to claim victory by one shot over one of the strongest fields ever to assemble on the European Tour. In an all-Titleist golf ball top two, Rock edged Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy (Pro V1x), who closed with a 3-under par 69 to finish alone in second, one shot behind Rock.

Rock posted a 13-under par total at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, claiming the biggest win of his career and adding to his maiden European Tour victory at the 2011 Italian Open. Joining Rock and McIlroy towards the top of the leaderboard were Titleist Brand Ambassadors George Coetzee (Pro V1x) and Matteo Manassero (Pro V1x), playing Titleist from tee-to-green to tie for sixth place on 10-under par. As well as being the winning ball in Abu Dhabi, Titleist was also played by the majority of the field with 73 players, compared to 20 for the nearest competitor.

Rock’s victory vaults him to second in the Race To Dubai rankings and 55th in the Official World Golf Rankings, which are now led by three Titleist Pro V1x aficionados: World no. 1 Luke Donald, no. 2 Rory McIlroy and no. 3 Lee Westwood.

The victory is the seventh worldwide professional victory for Titleist golf balls in 2012.
