R11S driver moves straight to No. 1 in first week on Tour
February 3, 2012

TaylorMadeThe official Tour launch of the new R11S driver took place this week at the Qatar Masters and saw the product immediately become the No. 1 driver model, with 24 put in play. Following its success on Tour last week, the RBZ Tour fairway remains the No 1. fairway model, while the Rescue 11 TP was No. 1 Rescue model and the Tour Preferred MC irons were the No. 1 iron model.

Sergio Garcia with the R11S from TaylorMadeTaylorMade staff professionals including Sergio Garcia, Peter Hanson and Paul McGinley were playing the R11S driver this week. Sergio Garcia tested the R11S with the TaylorMade Tour team at the beginning of the week and gained 1 mph increased ball speed, with less spin, and an average increased carry of 7 yards. Paul McGinley saw an increase of 5 mph in ball speed and, after adjusting the FCT (Flight Control Technology) to lower, he found the ball flight he was looking for, which resulted in a massive increase of 18 yards of carry.

Peter HansonIan Watts, Director of Sports Marketing for TaylorMade-adidas Golf Europe, commented "Following the success of the previous model on Tour and the excitement around it, we knew that our TaylorMade staff players were pleased with their current product. However, once we put the R11S in their hands and the players gained an average increased ball speed of 4 mph and increased distance off the tee, they were happy to switch straight away. We are delighted with the unprecedented success, which has been validated on Tour by becoming No. 1 driver model".

This week also saw TaylorMade launch a new marketing campaign called 'Driver Love' to support its new driver with TaylorMade staff players using the R11S wearing a big red heart on the front of their hat or on their headcover.
