Tour Edge Exotics XCG3 irons
By Dominic Pedler - July 2010

Known especially for their stunning hybrids (that have had 10 top-10 finishes on the US Tour already this season), Tour Edge have impressed in every equipment category in their latest Exotics range, from the XCG3 driver through to the adjustable-weighted Xtreme Spin wedges.

The centrepiece of the series is the XCG3 irons, an elaborate mix of cavity-backed steel head and thermoplastic rear insert whose density varies between the long and short irons to optimize both the spin and feel of each club. The 3- through 6-irons feature a denser insert for a lower-spinning flight, while the short irons sport a softer blend for more spin, control and a softer impact feedback.

Across the set the insert is coated with carbon graphite for an extra touch of vibration dampening which no doubt explains the superb feel we enjoyed in our tests. £599 for eight irons (3-PW).
