The new Cobra Baffler Rail Hybrid - more of everything!

Cobra first introduced the Baffler thirty-five years ago, forever changing the way we play long approach shots. More recently they produced the Baffler DWS and TWS – among the best-selling hybrids of the last five years. Now for 2010 they have created the Baffler Rail Hybrid, drawing on the original design and over three decades of experience.

The new Baffler Rail Hybrid from Cobra Golf makes the ideal alternative to long irons, providing more distance, forgiveness and versatility.

“Improving upon the performance of previous leading-selling hybrids was a direct result of Cobra’s focus on utilising advanced technology and design to create superior performing clubs,” says Brian Zender, General Manager of Cobra Golf. “The Baffler Rail is the ultimate hybrid for long-game performance, with improved distance and control. Golfers will find this new Baffler line to be incredibly forgiving and more playable from a variety of lies. We improved upon every key performance attribute with the new Baffler Rail.”

The Cobra Baffler Rail Hybrid looks sleek, but it's bursting with technology. The 17-4 steel clubhead features a thin, high strength 465 maraging steel face designed to increase ball speed which. combined with stronger lofts, will increase distance. The new four-way rail sole helps the club slide through turf effortlessly, regardless of the lie, while the standard model comes with a lightweight 65-gram Fujikura Motore shaft for greater clubhead speed.

“It was a challenge to improve upon one of the top-selling hybrids in golf, but we did it by utilising several unique technologies,” says Tom Preece, Vice President of Research & Development for Cobra Golf. “The innovative rail sole design encourages more pure ball striking from any lie. The 9 Point Face Technology essentially allows most shots across the clubface to perform as if they were struck in the centre of the clubface for improved forgiveness, accuracy and ball speed. Finally, the special thin, lightweight clubface allows us to strategically reposition 10% of the weight deeper and lower in the clubhead, which improves launch conditions for optimal ball flight.”

The Cobra Baffler Rail Hybrid is available in 2/H, 3/H, 4/H, 5/H and 6/H models. It comes with a Fujikura Motore graphite shaft (Lite, R or S flex) and a Lamkin grip. A women’s Baffler Rail Hybrid model is also available in 3/H, 4/H, 5/H, 6/H and 7/H.
