Four distinctive designs of FootJoy's FJ ICON shoe, featuring the blue and white colours of Scotland’s National Flag, will be worn at the Home of Golf by some of the world’s finest golfers on the opening day of the 150th Open Championship. World no. 3 Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson and Robert Karlsson will be among the big names marking the anniversary and celebrating the famous Old Course at St Andrews in their eye-catching footwear.
MyJoys were conceived to enable the personalisation of FootJoy’s market leading golf shoes and have been a great success since their launch. At the PGA Championship at Wentworth in May a number of high-profile players took part in the ‘MyJoys May’ promotion, which saw them wear shoes chosen for them by their fans via a specially created microsite. Alongside some of the biggest and brightest names in golf who take part in the MyJoys programme, more and more amateur golfers have been following suit by creating their own unique designs.
For the Open Championship, FootJoy have specifically designed the MyJoys shoe in four variations of the FJ ICON and the players themselves have chosen their favourite. Lee Westwood has gone for the asymmetric pattern and Ross Fisher will wear the contemporary sport saddle, while Stenson and Karlsson both chose the traditional saddle.
Golfers across Europe can join in and design their very own pair via the MyJoys website, www.myjoys.co.uk, selecting a white base colour with a Blue Croc 450 saddle on any one of the FJ ICON patterns.
