Rentaclub 'Try before you buy' reveal UK's most popular drivers
March 11, 2010

The TaylorMade R9 SuperTri and Callaway FT-iZ are currently the most popular new drivers with consumers, according to the UK’s first online golf equipment rental service Rentaclub.co.uk.

According to the website, which enables golfers to try out new products by renting them for five days at a time, TaylorMade’s R9 SuperTri and Callaway’s FT-iZ drivers are top of the rental charts, underlying consumer interest in models with the latest technology and performance benefits.

“There has been an outstanding response to the new website, with golfers relishing the opportunity to sign up and rent new drivers,” explained Matthew Fagan, Managing Director of Rentaclub.co.uk.

“New 2010 products are reaching the shops and we are seeing golfers teeing up potential purchases by thoroughly test driving products to find out what works best for them to ensure value for money from their investment.”

As well as TaylorMade and Callaway, golfers are also renting the latest driver models from Nike, Cleveland, Srixon, Mizuno, Wilson Staff and Bridgestone.

Once ordered, the drivers are delivered within 24 hours by UPS to the golfer’s home or work address, and can be kept for five days (£25) or 10 days (£40) before being picked up and returned by UPS. Fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges and putters will be available soon.

TGI Golf, the UK’s leading network of green grass golf professionals and retailers, is supporting Rentaclub, with many of its 400 members offering free custom fitting services to customers who, having rented a driver, go on to purchase a product.

“This is an exciting new opportunity for golfers and one that has the full backing of the UK golf industry, including leading equipment companies and retail groups such as TGI Golf,” added Matthew Fagan. “It is clear that the message that golfers should test drive and be custom fitted for new golf equipment is hitting home, and that this service is precisely what British golfers want.”
