Sharp vision from Nikon
The new 1000AS from Nikon features a number of enhancements for ease of use, range and clarity of target. There's even a brightness control that makes the target easier to spot on a dull day. 'First Target Priority' mode displays the range to the nearest target among multiple results obtained with a single measurement – useful for measuring the distance to a pin on a green with woods in the background. Add to that further enhancements including a larger ocular (18mm) for easy viewing, a wider field of view (7.5 degrees), a longer eye relief design to help golfers who wear glasses and an even greater distance measurement range (from as close in as 10 yards to as far away as 1,000 yards).

A brighter pill to follow
Stress levels running a little high on the golf course? Might be time to test drive Srixon's new Z-Star Tour Yellow, a high visibility ball enjoying all of the performance benefits of Srixon's tour model with additional benefits of improved visibility (at 275 yards, the Tour Yellow is spotted over 60%of the time compared to 21%with the white ball). Research suggests yellow/green colours have a calming effect on a player, and Srixon has combined the two colours to tap into the player's mind and thus expand the benefits of playing not only a proven tour-calibre ball (played by the likes of tour-winner Jim Furyk) but one you can see much more clearly – the same principle that saw the change from white to yellow tennis balls in the 1990s. Suggested retail: £44.
