Titleist club launches promise strong 2010 performance
January 27, 2010

Titleist’s club business seems set for a strong year in 2010, with growing market shares, strong pre-booked sales and industry awards across the product range.

The company continued to increase its golf club market shares throughout 2009, and looks ready to continue with its 2010 club offerings. Healthy pre-booked orders from accounts across the UK for new iron models, wedges and Scotty Cameron putters have been reinforced by 'Gold Awards' in the Golf Digest Hotlist, with a total of seven Titleist clubs scooping top honours in six different categories.

Golf Award winners were the Titleist F2/F3 fairway metal in the wood category, Titleist AP1 in the game improvement iron category, Titleist AP2 in the better player iron category, Titleist Vokey in the wedge category, Titleist Scotty Cameron Kombi in the mallet putter category, as well as the Scotty Cameron California and Scotty Cameron Studio Select series in the blade putter category.

This comes on the back of a solid year in 2009 where, according to the latest retail audit from Golf Datatech, Titleist improved its market share in the UK in all major categories through the bag, from tee to green.

Ken Graham, Titleist’s Director UK Sales and European Marketing, commented, "We were very pleased with how the Titleist line sold through in 2009, gaining share across the board despite very tough market conditions. With the new improved products for 2010 announced late last year the pre-book orders for 2010 have been extremely strong. The seven Gold Awards from Golf Digest underline the quality of the entire range and I am sure they will help to stimulate demand even more as the season gets underway."

The AP1 and AP2 irons have been updated for 2010 with subtle refinements. Both models feature a new co-moulded Tuned Feel System which improves the feel and sound of each club, while the new AP1 also features a thinner top line and face which improves weighting for greater forgiveness. The new AP2 also has refinements to the bounce of the sole, resulting in better turf interaction and improved playability.

Titleist has introduced new iron models aimed at skilled golfers. The CB is a forged cavity back iron with optimum cavity shape and positioning to ensure maximum feel and playability, while the MB is a classic muscle back, forged iron. The MB features minimal progressive offset for maximum shot making ability and the uniform muscle shape provides solid feel.

In addition to the new irons, the latest range of Scotty Cameron putters have joined the Studio Select line in winning Gold Awards in the Golf Digest Hotlist. The putters, new Vokey design wedges and the successful 909 driver and fairway metals complete an impressive line-up for Titleist in 2010.
