FootJoy the leader in shoe & glove count at Royal St George's
July 20, 2011

FootJoyFootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, is the preferred choice amongst the field gathered at Royal St Georges for the 140 th Open Championship. Players in this year's tournament have opted for the superior comfort, styling and performance of FootJoy, as they compete for golf's oldest and most coveted prize.

For more than 30 years, FootJoy has sat comfortably at the top of the pile in The Open Championship shoe count. A total of 94 players, including U.S Open Champion Rory McIlroy, 2-time Open Champion Padraig Harrington, defending champion Louis Oosthuizen, as well as World #1 Luke Donald and World #2 Lee Westwood, have chosen the market leader as they march around Royal St Georges staking their claim for the claret jug. This represents 60% of the field, more than three times that of its nearest competitor.

FootJoy also topped the glove count, with a total of 65 golfers choosing the superior fit, feel and grip of the market-leader, which represents a 41% share of the field, more than double that of its nearest competitor.

"The Open is golf's most historic Championship and brings together so many of the world's best golfers. To lead the shoe and glove counts at such a prestigious tournament for a period spanning over three decades is an achievement we can be incredibly proud of," commented Russell Lawes, FootJoy's European Marketing Manager.

Whether it is the all-round excellence of the FJ ICON™ , the reliability and consistent performance of the new DryJoys Tour™ , or the comfort of the FJ Sport™ , FootJoy remains the overwhelming favourite for golfers of all abilities around the world.
