First European Tour victory for Nike's new 20XI golf ball August 23, 2011
An awesome display of nerve and skill in a thrilling final round of the Czech Open saw Nike athlete Oliver Fisher capture his maiden Tour victory this past weekend.
Six years after becoming the youngest Walker Cup player in history, Fisher showed a great deal of maturity and a hot Method putter sinking six crucial birdies en route to his 13 under par win.
The talented 22-year-old from Essex, who has worked incredibly hard to turn around an indifferent 2011 season, started the ball rolling with good finishes in the previous two events going into the Czech Open. He now moves to just inside the top 70 in the Race to Dubai rankings and is brimming with confidence and aiming to build on his success in the Czech Republic.
Fisher has been a Nike Golf Tour staff athlete since he turned professional in 2006. Highlighting his bag of Nike Golf equipment is the new Nike 20XI-X golf ball, which features a combination of proprietary technology never before seen in the golf industry. The game-changing technology replaces conventional rubber cores with a radical new resin material. Resin is a highly neutralised polymer that's faster and lighter material engineered to produce longer distance and more controlled shots.
This is the first win on the men's Tour with the new Nike 20XI-X golf ball. Suzann Pettersen has won three LPGA events using 20XI-X this season including last week's Irish Open and this past weekend's Safeway Classic. The new 20XI-X golf ball will be available across EMEA from February 2012.
Also a feature in his bag, Oliver played Nike's new VR Pro Ltd driver which will be available at retail in November.
