Alwoodley zip-front cardigan

Ryder Cup inspired cardigan from Glenmuir

Inspired by its widely acclaimed 2008 European Ryder Cup Team shirts, Glenmuir has introduced the contemporary 'Alwoodley' zip-front cardigan to its Men's Fashion Lambswool knitwear collection for Autumn/Winter 09.

The 100% machine washable lambswool 'Alwoodley' features the back panel broad stripe detailing introduced by Glenmuir on the shirts worn on the first and second days of the Ryder Cup in Valhalla.

The new addition is one of five distinctive new sweaters in Glenmuir's fashion lambswool range for this season and features a full-length zip with the renowned Glenmuir woven tab on the left seam.

The 'Alwoodley', which has a RRP of £68.50 is available in three colours - Black/Light Grey, Ink/Navy and Tan/Espresso.

Glenmuir managing director, Colin Mee, says: "We introduced the distinctive broad stripe back panel pattern last year in the European Ryder Cup Team shirts and the design drew huge compliments from golfers and spectators.

"Although the result didn't go in our favour, The European Team looked great and we wanted to incorporate elements of their clothing into our Autumn/Winter '09 collection.

"It's a contemporary design and with cardigans very much a must-have clothing item for golfers, particularly among the fashion-conscious, the combination of the design and style should prove very popular."

With more than a century-old knitwear tradition, Glenmuir's Men's Fashion Lambswool collection also includes the new 'Rye', boasting a contemporary squares intarsia design on front and back; the 'Silloth', with diamond detailing on the shoulders; and the 'Ashridge' and 'Ferndown', which both feature more classic diamond intarsia panels.
