POWAKADDY STEPS IN TO ASSIST RETAIL PARTNERS WITH NEW BATTERY REGULATIONS

PowaKaddy, the #1 name in powered carts, has committed to helping pros, retailers and service centres meet new battery recycling regulations and to supporting a greener environment through the recycling of Electric Golf Trolleys and batteries.

From February 1st 2010 new battery recycling regulations come into force in the United Kingdom which will require anyone (pro shop, retailers, service agents and manufacturers) selling more than 32kg of batteries (ie 4 or more lead acid batteries per annum) to provide a battery take back service for consumers.

PowaKaddy Group will be offering a free battery collection service from these outlets where they will collect all batteries not just PowaKaddy and Hill Billy. For greatest environmental and cost efficiency a minimum of 30 or more lead acid batteries will be collected at one time. As part of the scheme PowaKaddy Group will provide participants with literature, window-stickers, will keep people up-to-date with the legislation and will provide a record of the batteries collected to meet the new regulatory requirements

“As a business it is important for us to recognise the impact that we have on the environment. With these new regulations coming into place we felt that it was right for us to be pro-active and support our retail partners and service centres. It makes both environmental sense and good business sense,” commented Terry Hale, Chief Executive PowaKaddy Group.
