S-Blade putters report sucess

Spherical Blade, one of Europe’s fastest-growing putter brands, is hopeful of securing distribution in the USA after successfully exhibiting at two major golf shows in 2009.

The Cardiff-based company is expected to announce an agreement with a major distributor later this month (April), which will make its revolutionary 'curved face' putters available to golfers in the USA for the first time.

S-Blade formed part of a Welsh contingent of exhibitors at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando earlier this year, alongside Visit Wales, Ryder Cup Wales, The Celtic Manor Resort, Wales Golf Vacations, South Wales Championship Links, Asbri Golf Ltd, and Spot on Golf Ltd.

Ian Smith, managing director of Spherical Blade, met several agents and distributors who were impressed by the curved face technology in the S-Blade putter range. The stunning and distinctive wooden 'Tortoiseshell' and 'Admiral' models also generated a huge amount of interest.

Golfers also showed keen interest in the S-Blade stand at the Scottish Golf Show, held in Glasgow in March, with the company delighted with the sales generated.

Said Ian: "We are extremely pleased with the reaction from both golf shows to the S-Blade range.

"We went to the PGA Merchandise Show with the intention of appointing a distributor and we’re about to confirm that deal. In Scotland, the S-Blade brand proved to be very popular and with several new models to be launched this year we came away with a great deal of optimism for the future of the business."

Designed with gentle convex curves on its face, each S-Blade putter delivers a perfect roll by imparting increased top-spin and preventing the 'bobbling'
effect so often seen after the putter strikes the ball.

This technology helps the golfer achieve a much smoother roll on their putts and also makes the S-Blade putter much more forgiving than other makes and models.

The idea for the Spherical Blade putter was conceived by Ivor Thom, a retired design engineer, successful businessman, avid amateur golfer and former captain of Newport Golf Club.
