The lowest rounds in Major Championship golf (63)

The lowest single round score in Major Championship golf is 63, which has been achieved 25 times by 23 players, beginning in 1973 with Johnny Miller's sensational final round in the US Open at Oakmont.

63s achieved by Major:
PGA - 11 times
Open Championship - 8 times
US Open - 4 times
Masters - twice

Winning with a 63:
Although 14 of the 23 golfers who have scored 63 in a Major have won a Major Championship, only five 63 shooters have won the Major in which they shot it:
Johnny Miller ('73 US Open - final round)
Jack Nicklaus ('80 US Open - 1st round)
Raymond Floyd ('82 PGA - 1st round)
Greg Norman ('86 Open - 2nd round)
Tiger Woods ('07 PGA - 2nd round)
This means that only Miller's 63, out of the 25 achieved, was genuinely the "winning round".

Multiple 63s in Majors:
Only two men have done this - Greg Norman ('86 Open, '96 Masters) and Vijay Singh ('93 PGA, '03 US Open).

Same round 63s:
Tom Weiskopf and Jack Nicklaus both shot 63 in the 1st round of the 1980 US Open at Baltusrol.

Multiple 63s by venue:
Baltusrol - 3 times ('80 US Open twice, '05 PGA once)
Atlanta Athletic Club - twice ('01 and '11 PGAs)
Augusta National - twice ('86 and '96 Masters)
Riviera - twice ('95 PGA)
Royal St George's - twice ('93 Open)
St Andrews - twice ('90 and '10 Opens)
Southern Hills - twice ('82 and '07 PGAs)
Turnberry - twice ('77 and '86 Opens)

Same Championship 63s:
Nick Faldo (2nd round) and Payne Stewart (final round) in the 1993 Open at Royal St George's;
Michael Bradley (1st round) and Brad Faxon (final round) in the 1995 PGA at Riviera.
