Golf group contributes £40K to nation's favourite charity
The Leaderboard Group of golf clubs raised more than £40,000 towards this year's BBC's annual Children in Need appeal.
Former Conservative Party chairman Lord Cecil Parkinson, the president of Chart Hills Golf Club, handed over a cheque on behalf of the Kent club, while Paul Gibbons, the co-owner of the group was able to hand over the remainder on behalf of Leaderboard.
The group's remaining courses all chipped in with substantial donations: The Oxfordshire; Dale Hill Hotel & Golf Club, in Ticehurst, East Sussex; and Sandford Springs, in Hampshire.
Leaderboard's owners, Paul and Jennifer Gibbons, said, said: "This is an amazing achievement by the group and our thanks go out not just to our staffs and members but also the hundreds of visitors who came to our golf courses to help raise such a huge amount for a very worthwhile charity."
