Saadiyat Beach offers Abu Dhabi juniors a Gary Player clinic
Globetrotting golf legend Gary Player visited the soon-to-open Saadiyat Beach Golf Club – the Arabian Gulf’s first and only ocean front course - to host a once-in-a-lifetime golf clinic for more than a dozen of Abu Dhabi’s leading junior golfers this week.
The session with nine times major champion Player was arranged by Saadiyat Beach Golf Club’s master developer, Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), as part of the Abu Dhabi government’s long-term commitment to developing the emirate’s aspiring sport enthusiasts at the grass-roots level.
Saadiyat Beach Golf Club - which is located on the flagship Saadiyat Island project, the global leisure, residential and cultural destination under development by TDIC is situated just 500 metres offshore from Abu Dhabi’s city centre.
The amphitheatre-style par 72 course, which has been designed by Player in a classic ‘figure of eight’ with over a third of the course having views of the Saadiyat coastline, will officially open to the public in February 2010. The course will offer the only daily pay and play facility in the Middle East, making golf more accessible in the Emirate.
