Marriott Tudor Park receives GolfMark accreditation
August 23, 2010

Marriott Tudor Park Golf & Country Club near Maidstone, Kent, is the latest golf facility to be awarded the coveted GolfMark status by the English Golf Union (EGU) and the English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA).

GolfMark, which incorporates Sports England’s ClubMark accreditation, is the national scheme which identifies and recognises junior and beginner-friendly golf facilities.

In order to reach GolfMark status, Marriott Tudor Park had to meet a number of strict criteria which proved that the club was (a) a safe and organised environment where staff and volunteers are trained to support the needs of juniors and beginners; (b) has considered and addressed the needs of children and beginners; (c) has taught and will continue to teach children respect, social and life skills, discipline and honesty; (d) has provided a structured environment for golfers to develop their skills, with support from qualified coaches; (e) offers a fun, enjoyable and welcoming environment; and (f) has worked hard to improve policies and procedure developing a sound structure for the future.

Staff and pupils celebrate Marriott Tudor park's acheivement of GolfMark status

Marriott Tudor Park Golf & Country Club is now one of 9 clubs in Kent to achieve GolfMark status which is a considerable achievement given that only 10% of Golf Clubs in the area have this status.

“We are delighted to announce that we have recently been conferred GolfMark status by the EGU and EWGA,” said Jason Muller, Head PGA Golf Professional at Marriott Tudor Park Golf & Country Club.

“It has taken around 18 months and has been an exacting process but we hope it will help to attract new business from schools and other junior organisations.”

“We believe it will also be beneficial in our drive to attract new members as it will demonstrate Tudor Park is a family friendly environment in which to start playing golf.”

Over 300 golf clubs in England have now attained GolfMark status and many more are attempting to qualify for the award.

EGU and EWGA Golf Development Manager, Richard Flint, said: “To have 300-plus clubs awarded GolfMark and a further 600 working towards it is a great achievement and is really encouraging for the future health of golf in England. Marriott Tudor Park Golf & Country Club should be congratulated on their efforts, hard work and support of the scheme, along with all the other GolfMark facilities.”
