The Nike TW Kids Series - the perfect start in a box
August 3, 2010

Without a doubt, one of the reaons for Tiger Woods' early and prolific success as a young golfer was that he benefited from properly fitted golf clubs. His father, Earl Woods, knew that clubs that were too long or too heavy or grips that were too large could have a detrimental affect on his son’s progress in the game and could encourage him to develop bad habits later in his golfing life.

Taking an average man’s height and adult driver lengths into consideration, Earl scaled down the shaft measurements to suit Tiger’s height for every club in the bag. The resulting clubs gave Tiger the perfect club length to head weight ratios for every club in the bag, from his driver to his putter.

This same principle applies to Nike Golf’s TW Kids Box Sets, which offer a proper fit for young golfers and allows them to develop good fundamentals which will make the game more enjoyable from the moment they first swing a club.

Inspired by Tiger Woods’ great start in life, The TW Kids Series comprises two sets, Red and Black, which are designed for age groups 5-7 and 8-11 respectively. As age is not necessarily an accurate indicator of height, the sets are also height specific, with the Red set built for those under 4ft 3 inches tall, while the Black set is suitable for those between 4ft 3 inches and 4ft 10 inches.

Each club is in each set is specifically tuned by height, with lofts, head weight, length, shaft flex, offset and grip size matched to the physical needs of junior players. The set make up is also matched with kids in mind, with the Black set (RRP £180) comprising six clubs, with a driver, hybrid, three irons and a putter, while the Red set (RRP £130) features four clubs, with driver, 5-iron, pitching wedge and a putter.
