Peter Alliss Recieves Spirit Of Golf Award
July 12, 2012

In 2007 the Golf Foundation introduced the ‘Spirit of Golf Award’, which is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to golf and has inspired youngsters to take up the game. The recipients to date have been Gary Player (2007), Tony Jacklin (2008), Lee Westwood (2009), Ian Poulter (2010) and Ernie Els (2011).

This year, the impressive ‘Spirit of Golf’ trophy will be presented to Peter Alliss, not only in recognition of the way he has made the sport entertaining in the eyes of young people, but also for the support he has given to junior golf and his commitment to the Golf Foundation over many years.

On Tuesday 17th July at the R&A Swingzone, in the tented village at Royal Lytham & St Annes, the award will be presented to Peter at a special event involving our President Colin Montgomerie and local youngsters. Peter will take part in a Tri-Golf activity session and will then receive the award in front of a group of invited VIPs.
