Putt Sridama wins Faldo Series Thailand

Putt Sridama of Thailand won the sixth Faldo Series Thailand Championship by three shots at the Panorama Golf and Country Club in Nakhon Ratchasima. Sridama fired rounds of 70 and 69 to claim one of the remaining five Grand Final spots that were on offer.

Other age-group winners heading to the World Amateur Golf Ranking event are Poovadol Lee-Arthan (Boys’ Under-21) and Worakorn Toyam (Boys’ Under-18). The final two spots in the 8th Faldo Series Asia Grand Final at Mission Hills in China on March 11-13 were taken by Nuchakorn Nunphakdi (Girls’ Under-21) and Bunyaporn Zeng (Girls’ Under-16).

Established in 1996, 40 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 30 countries worldwide with more than 7,000 golfers participating each year. Past winners include Major Champions Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng.

In September 2014, Faldo will begin taking students at a full-time residential academy for education and golf development in America. The first ever Faldo Series Academy in Casa Grande, Arizona is also home to the Faldo Series USA and marks the next significant step in the programme’s history.

The 2013/2014 Faldo Series Asia schedule features a record 19 tournaments in 15 countries, including four in mainland China, two in India and others in The Philippines, Chinese Taipei, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Brunei, Japan, Pakistan, Indonesia and Thailand. The season will conclude in March 2014 when Faldo hosts the eighth Faldo Series Asia Grand Final at Mission Hills Golf Club in China.

The Faldo Series Asia is supported by The R&A, ISPS Handa and Mission Hills. It is endorsed by the Asian Tour and the Asia Pacific Golf Federation.

Leading final scores: Boys’ Under-21: 158 – Poovadol Lee-Arthan (78-80); 168 – Komchan Suwannachuen (82-86). Boys’ Under-18: 150 – Worakorn Toyam (76-74); 153 – Phanuvich Onchu (81-72), Watcharasit Trachuentong (79-74). Boys’ Under-16: 139 – Putt Sridama (70-69); 142 – Varut Kajonkittisakul (71-71); 144 – Kritchayapol Sinchai (71-73). Girls’ Under-21: 157 – Nuchakorn Nunphakdi (84-73), Kotchapan Thongmanoi (77-80). Girls’ Under-16: 146 – Bunyaporn Zeng (71-75); 149 – Patranit Chuaychoo (77-72), Suthavee Chanachai (77-72).
