Streetwear Inc. new official LPGA apparel licensee
April 17, 2012

The LPGA announced today that apparel manufacturer Streetwear Inc., has contracted to become the “Official Licensee of LPGA Apparel.” Under the agreement, Streetwear Inc. will design, manufacture and distribute a women’s apparel collection bearing the LPGA’s brand name. The LPGA Apparel Collection will be distributed in golf, department, and specialty retail stores throughout the United States and Canada. The first collection is expected to hit retail floors in early 2013.

“The LPGA has been focusing on bringing to life our Tour’s points of distinction, particularly our unique personalities, which naturally extends to our players’ fashion,” said Jon Podany, LPGA Chief Marketing Officer. “Our fans have responded and there is growing interest in being associated with our Tour. We’re seeing it with television viewership, digital media, event attendance and corporate partners. As the foremost brand in women’s golf, it is a logical extension to create another touch point for our fans which ties to our performance and style.”

Henry Katz, Chairman and William Cappiello, Streetwear’s President stated, “We are thrilled to have partnered with the LPGA. The women’s golf apparel business has long been searching for a brand name iconic to women’s golf, one that women would be proud to wear; we believe we have identified that brand to be the LPGA.”

Industry veteran Will Cropper, formerly with adidas Golf, will be leading the LPGA project for Streetwear. According to Cropper, “The collection we will be designing will not be your typical golf clothing collection. We intend on blending today’s performance technologies with styles women can wear both on and off the course, making LPGA Apparel a versatile part of an everyday wardrobe.”

“Our search for the right partner to create LPGA Apparel was made easy once we were introduced to the team at Streetwear,” Podany said. “They have extensive relevant experience with other sports brands, have the perfect infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities, and most importantly the team they put together completely understands the combination of fashion and performance the female golfer desires.”

Streetwear Inc. is a Boston based apparel specialist with more than 20 years of experience in apparel design and manufacturing. They are the manufacturers of StreetWear Golf. Licensed brands include Reebok, Adidas, NHL, NCAA, Hasbro, Marvel, and LPGA. www.streetwearinc.com
