GET AN ACCURATE WEATHER FORECAST FOR YOUR GOLF...
Hasn't the weather been awful in the last week? My weekly game of golf with the ladies on Tuesday was washed out and instead I spent the day researching lovely places to jet off to this winter to find some sun! You'll see a few of my suggestions in the travel section at the end of my blog this week.

A brand new golf show, organised and run by the already successful Golf Show Group, will be held in Manchester next year.
The show, which will be held at Manchester's EventCity, will take place from the 5th-7th of April 2013, and will be supported by new retail partner Express Golf. The show is the first of its kind in the North West and the organisers hope it will be as successful as its established London Golf Show which is now celebrating its eighth year.
The new Manchester Golf Show will take a similar format to its sister shows and has been designed to provide a truly interactive experience for golf enthusiasts of all ages with informed technical advice, PGA tuition and education, guest interviews, Driving bays, Custom fitting, Club testing, Custom build trucks, Simulators and the latest golf gadgets. However, the team hopes to give the show its own distinct feel with support from local clubs and brands giving the show its own unique identity.
Ian Mullins - Marketing Director of the Golf Show Group said, "Having joined the Golf Show Team last year, it was always our intention to take a refreshed look at the core demographics of golfers in the UK, where they live and what their spending habits were. Our instincts to launch a show in Manchester were soon confirmed when the research came back. EventCity is the second largest exhibition centre outside of London, situated in a prime spot right next to The Trafford Centre. Eight talented youngsters have been crowned 2012 champions of England Golf's National Skills Challenge, supported by FootJoy, the No. 1 Shoe and Glove in Golf.
They won their titles at the grand final at The National Golf Centre, Woodhalll Spa. The event was contested by 30 young golfers from all over the country who had won through regional finals. They demonstrated some fantastic skills and will no doubt continue to be great golfers in the future.
The National Skills Challenge is now in its seventh year and continues to progress with nearly 800 clubs registered and 6,200 juniors involved nationwide. England Golf are delighted that FootJoy, the No.1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, has continued to support the National Skills Challenge in 2012 and have kindly donated products and prizes to the qualifiers and winners.

Tour 12 to 14 years
Tour 15 to 17 years
They were among the 30 finalists who had all won their respective age categories at regional finals around the country. They all demonstrated impressive putting, chipping, bunker, pitching and long game skills, with some great scores achieved on the particularly challenging set-up on the famous short game academy.
Richard Flint, England Golf Development Manager, said: "It is great to see youngsters with such golfing talent taking part in our Skills Challenge National Final and this can be credited to the coaching they receive from their home clubs.
"The Skills Challenge continues to grow each year and England Golf would like to see even more clubs represented, giving their juniors an opportunity to take part and potentially qualify for the regional and national final".
Following this year's final, England Golf ran a fun, Ryder Cup Challenge for the participants, over five holes at the short game academy with Team USA winning the event.

Sussex golfers Jill Corbett and Jenny Davis emerged triumphant from a three-way tie to win the betterball event at the England Golf Women's Murcia Challenge in Spain.
Jill greeted the news with an ear-splitting shriek of delight and said: "I am ecstatic, this is brilliant, unbelievable."
The pair, from West Hove, were playing in the Challenge for the first time and captured their prize by the narrowest of margins, on count-back from two other partnerships.
At the end of the round at Mar Menor, they were tied on 40 stableford points with Frances Payne and Kay Bone of Essex and with Lancashire's Lynne Perry and Irene Bowker. But Jill and Jenny came home in 21 points, compared to the 19 of the two other pairs.
"We were really steaming on the back nine," said Jill, who contributed a four-pointer with a birdie three on the 11th. The pair, who have a regular Sunday morning game at their club, combined well with equal contribution to the score.
The competition was played in very hot sunshine, but there was plenty of good scoring. Lynne and Irene set the pace early on with their 40 points but were eventually pushed into third place after Kay and Frances also pipped them on countback.
"We played well," said Frances, who contributed a four-pointer during the round. "We hit a similar ball and that helps us with clubbing."
They were in the last group on the course, alongside birthday girl Belinda Martin of Cheshire. "I've had a fab day," she said as she finished her round - and was greeted with a card signed by competitors, cupcakes and sparkling wine!
