Gilet's are the must-have item of apparel in your golfing wardrobe this winter, insists Christina Smith, Director of Golf2Golf.co.uk...

Gilets are the perfect golf garment for comfort and function.

Keeping your core warm is vital because that is where all the power comes from in your swing.

They give warmth but don't restrict rotation and movement during the swing. If you purchase a good quality one that can stay as a staple in your wardrobe year after year they are breathable and lightweight and often water repellant.

Gilets are great if the weather is being typically unpredictable and allow for layering if the weather changes. Thinner gilets are great under your waterproof for added heat whilst a mock neck turtle is a perfect accompaniment on a dry winter day.

One of the high street's key trends is quilting and this technique is perfect for the gilet adding additional warmth and style.

Of course the gilet is not just confined to the fairway, they are a staple in many non-golfers wardrobes as they're great to wear casually anytime. So why not give one a try!
