ECCO steps out with colourful 2012 Women's Collection
Hand-made from luxurious leathers exclusively at ECCO-owned factories, all the shoes in the latest collection are designed and constructed using the Scandinavian principle that form must follow function. This foot-first approach to shoemaking merges with the company’s use of direct-injection technology to ensure outstanding durability, flexibility, lightness and weather resistance.
“Golf Street has been a global smash hit and early response to new designs has been remarkably strong,” says Michael Waack, Head of Global Golf at ECCO. “Similarly, the initial success of BIOM Golf at retail and on the LPGA Tour has led us to expand the collection in its second year.” Embodying ECCO's relentlessly innovative approach, the BIOM Golf is the game’s first Natural Motion shoe. Incorporating decades of ECCO research into the human foot, the patented design is built around a completely anatomical last with flexible midsole arch support. This mirrors the foot skeleton, uses the body’s natural system for absorbing impact and brings players closer to the ground for unmatched feel and traction.
Other features of the BIOM Golf include Yak leather uppers that are naturally soft, smooth and breathable but three times stronger than other leathers, ECCO Hydromax treated leather uppers for superb weather protection, a triple-component insole unit to enhance cushion and performance and a wider heel with a unique three-cleat configuration and stability bars between each cleat, to help achieve ideal balance. The Women's BIOM Hybrid will have a MSRP of £170.
Inspired by the catwalk and ideal for the golf course, the Casual Cool shoe is offered in three distinct leather types – waterproof GORE-TEX, weather-resistant HYDROMAX and high-grade Premier. It blends contemporary fashion with serious performance through smooth leathers, trend-inspired colors, feminine details and an advanced outsole design. MSRPs for these models are £125 for the Premier and the Hydromax and £145 for the Gore-Tex.
Building on the idea that golf shoes needn't look like golf shoes, Golf Street is a hybrid sport-casual shoe perfectly suited for the course or the city. Its distinctive uppers feature high-fashion leathers and finishes alongside subtle patterning, bright colors and silver rivet detailing. The ingenious outsole has highly-durably molded TPU traction bars that boast hundreds of traction angles for superb grip in all conditions. Expect to pay around £99-110 a pair. The ECCO women’s golf collection is worn in competition by scores of international Tour stars, including Belen Mozo, Gerina Piller and Jennifer Johnson.
