Karen Stupples joins Wilson Staff

Karen Stupples, the 2004 Women’s British Open winner, has joined Wilson Golf in a deal that will see the English star play with the highly-rated FG Tour V2 irons and become a Wilson Staff Advisory member.

Stupples – who last year lead the LPGA Tour in eagles with 12 and competed in her second Solheim Cup to help recapture the trophy for the European Team – will complement her irons with the Wilson Staff FG Tour wedges, whilst also carrying the iconic red and white Wilson Staff bag.

“We are excited to welcome Karen Stupples as a Wilson Staff Advisory Member,” said Tim Clarke, general manager at Wilson Golf. “Karen has been a great asset to women’s golf for many years, and we believe she will continue to succeed for years to come. We are proud to have her represent our brand on the LPGA.”

A two-time winner on both the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour, Stupples will bring plenty of experience to her advisory role, in influencing the development of future clubs.

“I am very honoured to join the Wilson Staff family,” said Stupples, who hails from the English county of Kent. “I am excited for the future possibilities that come with playing the Wilson Staff irons, and proud because of the history Wilson Staff has had with the women's game. It will be a privilege to represent the brand.”

The 38-year old finished the 2011 season strongly with two top-ten finishes, including a tie for fourth at the Navistar LPGA Classic and a tie for ninth at the Avnet LPGA Classic.

Stupples joins a growing list of Tour players who have chosen Wilson Staff as their brand for the new season. They include three-time Major winner Harrington, 1999 Open Champion Lawrie, Englishman Anthony Wall, Dane Andreas Hartø and PGA Tour stars Kevin Streelman and Ricky Barnes, who recently committed to a new advertising campaign with Wilson Staff. Two-time Walker Cup player Stiggy Hogdson will also play Wilson Staff on the Challenge Tour in 2012.

Wilson Golf has claimed 61 Major Championship victories, more than any other golf club manufacturer.
