WGC-Bridgestone Invitational - A Great Opportunity for Woods
July 29, 2010

World no. 1 Tiger Woods will try to defend the title of the World Golf Championships - Bridgestone Invitational, which will take place from August 5th through the 8th at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

Woods remains as the favorite in many golf betting entities being the defending champion and also considering that he’s never finished lower than 4th in this event. And we can’t ignore the fact that Tiger Woods is still the number one ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking, although his lead over second ranked Phil Mickelson is now less than three quarters of an average point.

However, Woods has failed to achieve a win at any tournament so far this year; he failed in his attempt to win the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach and the British Open at St. Andrews.

But for this Bridgestone Invitational championship, there are some aspects that tell me that we can expect an outstanding performance from Woods, in which he could also regain the high level that led him to become the best golfer ever.

Woods has won this tournament seven times in ten tries, and it seems that the Firestone Country Club course is a positive aspect for Tiger, as he has always been among the top five.

In addition, the American golfer is the only player in PGA history to win the Bridgestone Invitational title many times.

Undoubtedly, this is a great opportunity for Tiger Woods to turn his luck and achieve a win this year. Especially with so many expecting this to be his big return.

Finally, the Bridgestone Invitational includes the winners of all golf tournaments held around the world during the past year, as well as the members of the President Cup and Ryder Cup.

The winners of the Greenbrier Classic and Irish Open have a place and the players who have an official World Golf Ranking in the top 50 are also invited to play.
