The Golf Show raises funds for charity
November 15, 2010

The Golf Show, Europe's leading golf trade and educational event, raised thousands of pounds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research during the three days of the show held from October 26-28.
Delegates and exhibitors dug deep to fill buckets placed around the three exhibition halls, while the show organisers donated £5 for every survey filled in by those attending to raise £5,255 for the charity.
Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, is the only UK charity solely dedicated to research into blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Our expertise and focus enables us to invest in only the best UK research to bring us closer to a cure for all blood cancers. We are a unique team of supporters, volunteer fundraisers, businesses, patients and researchers who are all determined to beat blood cancers.
The inaugural Golf Show event saw more than 1,200 golf industry professionals visit the Harrogate International Centre, where they had the opportunity to visit more than 50 of golf's leading suppliers and service providers.
There was also a substantial educational element to the show with seminars conducted by leading experts from the golf industry running throughout the three-days, and keynotes from inventor of the Pro V1 golf ball Bill Morgan, Frank Thomas, former USGA Technical Director, the Birmingham City Football Club manager Alex McLeish, former Boots Chief Executive Richard Baker, and golf marketing guru, Andrew Wood.
John Davis, The Golf Show Coordinator said: "The Golf Show was an extremely successful event and to have raised so much money for such a worthwhile cause has really added to that success.
"I am extremely grateful to all those who dug deep into their pockets to help raise so much money as well as those who helped to make the show run smoothly.
"We are already looking towards next year's event and how we can build on the success of the first show and really cement its place as Europe's leading golf trade and educational event."
Georgina Fitt, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, Head of Community Fundraising, added: "We are absolutely delighted that The Golf Show raised an incredible £5,255 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. This amazing donation will help drive groundbreaking research into better treatment and cures for adults and children with blood cancers."
