Sponsors announced for Industry Awards
September 29, 2010

The build-up to Golf Tourism Scotland 's Gold Standard Awards is well and truly underway with a series of key announcements adding to the anticipation surrounding the red-carpet event. The event organisers have confirmed this year's Gold Standard Awards will not only reveal the best of Scotland 's travel, hospitality and golf service providers, but that the evening will also be sponsored by some of the country's leading businesses.

With less than 50 days before the gala night, GTS has confirmed that a series of sponsors have joined the awards' host resort, the Macdonald Marine Hotel & Spa in North Berwick, to support the Gold Standard Awards. Among the patrons are Arnold Clark, Europe 's largest independently owned, family run motor dealer, and the Fairmont St Andrews, which hosted the G20 Summit for the world's top financial leaders in November 2009.

"In a move that further verifies the prestige associated with the awards, I am pleased to confirm that some of Scotland's most respected brands will be supporting this year's Gold Standard Awards," said Nick Hunter, chairman of GTS. "Having Arnold Clark, the Fairmont and, of course, Macdonald Hotels involved is simply fantastic. The link between these well-known brands and the regard held by many for the Gold Standard Awards is a powerful and compelling partnership."

In other news, GTS has announced a new fund designed to help people engage in the business side of Scottish golf tourism. The Gold Standard Fund will be established to encourage the training and development of golf tourism professionals and will be open to all GTS member company employees. The fund will be the recipient of all charitable donations collected during the Gold Standard Awards night.

"We've raised around £10,000 over the years," explained Hunter.

"Previously we allocated these sums to a variety of good causes, but it was felt a more concentrated approach was required. The industry needs a steady stream of talent who, in turn, need to learn from the very best. The Gold Standard Fund will endeavour to meet these demands by providing a funding structure that will reward and support people in our industry."
