Golfmark status for De Vere Staverton Park
November 15, 2010

De Vere Venues' Staverton Park Golf Club has become one of only seven clubs in Northamptonshire to become accredited by Golfmark.

A national scheme identifying and recognising  junior and beginner friendly golf facilities, Golfmark enables young golfers to develop their skills in safe environments and is run by the English Golf Union (EGU) and the English Woman's Golf Association ( EWGA).

Staverton Park w as awarded Golfmark status after being assessed in key criteria, including coaching and playing, organised club environment, policy and procedure to safeguard the welfare of all junior golfers, and duty of care. The club was also assessed on its ability to offer relevant facilities to junior players and to provide an enjoyable and welcoming environment in which to learn the game.

Following the accreditation the club, which boasts a championship standard 18 hole golf course set in 140 acres complete with four lakes and 64 American-style sand traps, will now also be recognised by Sport England as a Clubmark facility - the only national cross sports accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections.

Andrew Gibbins, Golf Manager at  Staverton Park , comments: "We are thrilled to achieve this accreditation and to see our commitment to junior and beginner golf recognised. We take pride in our modern membership programmes and our superb facilities which have hosted regional, county and Midland PGA events each year. With Golfmark in place, we really are the ideal venue for golfers of any age, and their families, to develop their game".
