Lee Westwood students off to encouraging start
December 16, 2010

Students at the Lee Westwood Golf School have had an encouraging start to their campaign to become champions of the British Schools and Colleges Golf Tour. Two teams from the golf school, based at the Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf & Spa, have now completed three rounds of the regional heats, with individual students Phil Weston and Kieran Waters topping the leader boards in the 2 nd and 3 rd rounds respectively. The school's A team is currently leading in the Gross and Nett competitions with the B team following closely behind.

Both teams from the Lee Westwood Golf School are hoping their success will continue into the New Year when they will compete in a further two rounds of regional heats.

Gavin Hamlyn, Golf Performance Coach at the Lee Westwood Golf School commented: "Our teams have made a flying start in this competition, with our A team winning all the three regional rounds so far. Both teams hope they can continue this level of performance over the next two rounds and qualify for the national final. We also currently have seven players in the top ten Order of Merit competition. Hopefully these students can maintain their position in the top ten and qualify for the individual final."

The Lee Westwood Golf School at the Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf & Spa provides golfers aged 16 and above with a structured full time programme to develop and enhance their golf, education, lifestyle, psychology and fitness over a two year course. Alongside the unique golf training programme, all students work towards a BTEC Extended National Diploma in Sport (3 x A Level equivalent), delivering a great platform for launching into such an interesting and varied industry - whether as a playing professional, continuing into further education or working within the golf or associated industry sectors.
