Malaysia International Golf Fair
August 10, 2010

The Malaysia International Golf Fair (MIGF) 2010 is organised by Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) from October 1 to 3 at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. It is the governing body's first and the biggest golf exhibition and conference in Malaysia since its inception in 1929.

The Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato' Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak is the patron of this inaugural event, which is supported by Tourism Malaysia, ASEAN Golf Federation, and the Golf Club Managers' Association of Malaysia.

The theme for this year's event, 'Where Golf Takes Flight' boosts Malaysia 's efforts to establish itself as the regional hub for golf in Asia Pacific. MIGF seeks to bring professionals from different golfing arms and golfers (professional to occasional) under one roof to engage on issues pertinent to the industry and golfing community.

MIGF 2010 pushes boundaries with innovative ideas, departing from the usual trade-oriented golf trade fairs with distinct consumer and public attractions including the "Peace Tree". It is expected to stir up a sense of excitement amongst dedicated golfers and pique the interest of non-golfers through a series of activities that include golf clinics, full swing golf simulator and a fun putting green, "Family Golf" and "Getting started with Golf" packages.

MIGF's goal is to inject greater dynamism by facilitating growth, community and collaboration among the golfing community and industry in Malaysia and the region. This event will provide the strategic and holistic boost to golfing industry through the golf pentagon of:

•  Golf Education

•  Golf Community

•  Golf Equipment

•  Golf Courses

•  Golf Tours

Malaysian PM to launch "Tee for Peace"

MIGF 2010 will kick off on October 1, with the Malaysian PM officially launching "Tee for Peace", a key initiative under MIGF 2010, which aims to foster the ASEAN spirit and community for peace, under the auspices of Malaysian Golf Association.

Before tee-off, the Malaysian PM, YAB Dato' Seri Mohd Najib and ASEAN Ambassadors will each wave an olive branch, symbolic of their consensual advocacy for peace in the region.

Participants at "Tee for Peace" will be involved in innovative activities like solving of peace puzzles and a "Peace Quest Quiz" which will shed insights into the dynamics of effective peace efforts.

Peace Tree to support children in conflict zones

A Peace Tree will be set up at MIGF for all delegates, exhibitors and visitors to purchase a peace tag at RM10, RM50 and RM100 and redeem attractive prizes, incentives and tickets to golf clinics at participating outlets. Proceeds will support children in conflict zones, under the auspices of PeaceOneDay, a NGO based in London whose humanitarian efforts are focused on building a foundation of love and peace for conflict zone communities.
