The Open returning to Hoylake in 2014
February 17, 2010

The Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake is to host the 2014 Open.

The links course has been on the Open rota of venues since 1897 and has staged golf’s oldest major on 11 occasions, the last time in 2006 when Tiger Woods won.

“We are delighted the Open is returning to Royal Liverpool after a relatively short period of time,” said director of championships David Hill in a news release by the Royal & Ancient organisers.

The 2006 edition attracted an overall attendance of 230,000, a record for the championship in England.
