Hawaii victory returns Geoff Ogilvy to world top 10 January 11, 2010
Australian Geoff Ogilvy shot a final-round 67 at the par-73 Kapalua Resort Plantation Course to successfully defend his title at the season-opening SBS Championship from South Africa's Rory Sabbatini who finished a shot behind. American Matt Kuchar was third of the 28-man field consisting of the previous year's PGA Tour event winners with compatriot Sean O'Hair in a tie for fourth with Scotland's Martin Laird. Ogilvy moves back into the world's top 10 with a 5 spot jump to ninth while Sabbatini and Kuchar along with Ryan Moore, who finished 6th, all climb into the world top 50.
Charl Schwartzel claimed his fourth European Tour title after his final round 67 was good enough to help him secure the Africa Open in East London, co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour. The South African, the highest world ranked player in the field ended with a total of 272 - 20 under par overall - to edge out joint-overnight leader Thomas Aiken by a stroke. The win takes Schwartzel to the fringes of the world top 50 with a 15 spot jump to 51st.
