Maiden title puts Edoardo Molinari into world top 20
July 12, 2010

Edoardo Molinari won the Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond by three shots from Darren Clarke for his first European Tour title. Molinari climbs 22 places to world no. 19, leapfrogging his younger brother Francesco - who finished in a tie for fourth - who has moved up 5 places to 30th. Clarke rises 75 places to 104th and earns a spot in this week's Open Championship. Rafael Jacquelin holed a 40 foot putt for birdie on the 18th to take 3rd place on his own.

Steve Stricker successfully defended the John Deere Classic, his ninth PGA Tour title, at TPC Deere Run in Illinois by two shots from Paul Goydos. Stricker had a shot at the PGA Tour scoring record of 254 and the record of 32 birdies for 72 holes, but could only manage a final round 70, falling four strokes and one birdie short of the records. He remains at world no. 4, while Goydos, who opened the tournament with a round of 59, climbs 36 spots to 101st.

This week's other winners were Takashi Kanemoto at the The Championship by Lexus on the Japan Golf Tour, Peter Tomasulo at the Ford Wayne Gretzky Championship Presented by Samsung on the Nationwide Tour, Bernd Wiesberger at the Allianz Golf Open de Lyon on the Challenge Tour and Will Wilcox at the Dakota Dunes Casino Open on the Canadian Tour.
