Peter Senior, Pablo Martin and Thongchai Jaidee climb rankings
December 14, 2010

The Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola saw Peter Senior triumph in a Monday play-off with Geoff Ogilvy after severe weather conditions mounting to flooded fairways and greens saw play abandoned on Sunday afternoon. The morning’s play saw Geoff Ogilivy put on a stellar performance, picking up two shots over the last five holes and finishing on 12 under. An outright winner looked certain until Peter Senior birdied the final hole enforcing a play-off. Both Senior and Ogilvy missed crucial puts during the first play-off hole but Senior’s superior putting skills saw him win on the second play off hole making him the oldest ever winner of the Australian PGA Championship and the new World Number 256.

Pablo Martin overcame a back-nine blip to successfully defend his Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club. Having gone five shots clear at the start of the back nine, the Spaniard saw his lead reduced to one after a triple bogey at the 17th. But he held his nerve for a birdie at the last for a third European Tour title. Martin's closing two under par 70 gave him an 11 under total and two shot victory over South Africans Charl Schwartzel and Anthony Michael and Danish Challenge Tour graduate Thorbjorn Olesen. Martin climbs 104 positions to World Number 182.

Three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand showed why he is one of Asia’s best when he won his unprecedented 13th Asian Tour title at the Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open on Sunday. The Thai star posted a final round seven-under-par 65 to win the US$300,000 event by four shots with a four-day total of 21-under-par 267. Japan’s Kenichi Kuboya, who held the lead for three rounds, had to settle for second place after signing off with a 70 for a 271 total at the Phokeethra Country Club. The win helps Jaidee climb 13 places to World Number 67.
