Anatomy of Stretching 2nd edition announced
February 2, 2011

Lotus Publishing is set to release the second edition of The Anatomy of Stretching on 31 January, 2011, following continued success of the first edition published in 2007. Not only will the book include details of the benefits of stretching, how to stretch properly and the rules for safe stretching, but 20 new stretches have now been added to the already comprehensive list, along with an extended physiology section and more anatomy information within each stretching chapter.

Author and stretching/sports injury consultant, Brad Walker, said, "When The Anatomy of Stretching was originally published in 2007 it was the first book to cover the topic of anatomy and physiology for stretching and flexibility. Since then others have been written, but no other book on the subject contains more examples of stretching exercises, or is able to take detailed anatomical information and present it in a way that is easy for everyone to understand."

The Anatomy of Stretching , which is aimed at fitness enthusiasts of all levels, as well as fitness industry professionals from personal trainers to physical therapists,  takes the reader inside the body and shows them both the primary and secondary muscles in action during the stretching process. The Anatomy of Stretching looks at stretching from every angle, including physiology and flexibility, and does not have to be read from cover-to-cover, rather one chapter details how a muscle works, another documents how stretching can help you, and others contain specific information on stretches for the hamstrings, for example, or quadriceps. In addition to this The Anatomy of Stretching looks at which stretches are useful for the alleviation or rehabilitation of specific sports injuries.

Lotus Publishing spokesperson Jon Hutchings, said, "We're really pleased with the second edition of The Anatomy of Stretching . Brad Walker is so respected in his field, he has 20 years experience in the industry and really is a fountain of knowledge, so it's great to revisit The Anatomy with Stretching to add in the 20 new stretches, as well as even more information on anatomy and physiology. Of all the anatomy books and health & fitness books on stretching currently available on the market this truly is one of the most comprehensive and accessible yet."
