Three teams head to Spain for Banks & Brokers Championship final
August 17, 2011

Three teams will head to Spain in October after winning through to the grand final of the Banks and Brokers Golf Championship at a qualifier at Brocket Hall (Monday, August 15).

Hertfordshire-based Standon E&A won the event with 84 Stableford points, three points ahead of the team representing the golf travel magazine, Going for Golf . Broking firm Tradition was third with 79 points, just pipping broker-dealer MF Global to the third spot on the plane by one point. Title sponsor IG Markets came in fifth a further three points adrift.

Organiser Jim Nicholson said: "We were really lucky with the weather - it was a glorious day and the Melbourne Course, at Brocket Hall, was in fabulous condition. Everybody had a really enjoyable day and it was very competitive.

"Special thanks should go out to our title sponsor IG Markets and our official partner, Argentine holiday specialist Tango Tours."

Additional prizes on the day went to Patrick Hearne, from IG Markets, for nearest the pin, and ICAP's Robert Norris, for the longest drive.

The lucky top three teams now head off to join other qualifiers at Antequera Golf, near Malaga, during October, for a two-day final, where they will enjoy free flights and transfers; two rounds of golf; five-star accommodation at the impressive Hotel La Magdelena; tapas lunches on both days and a three-course gala dinner.

The overall winners in Spain will then be rewarded with an additional break to the stunning Lough Erne Resort, in Fermanagh , Northern Ireland.

The prize includes a night's B&B in a luxury two-bedroom Loughside Lodge suite; use of the infinity pool and thermal suite at the Thai Spa; and two rounds of golf per person on the outstanding Faldo Championship course.

The Banks and Brokers Golf Championship also helps to raise funds for STAR4Africa, a UK-based charity dedicated to providing opportunities and support for children in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The championship is open to all companies and individuals but is aimed primarily at corporations, individuals and other bodies operating in and around the financial services sector.
